Technical Purchase Sourcing Placement Student Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Purchase Sourcing Placement Student to join our team at Cummins Inc. in the UK, Huddersfield. As a Placement Student, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in purchasing and develop your skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Purchasing assigned items and executing buying strategies to optimize cost and lead times.
- Analyzing sourcing information and presenting findings for cost reduction and process improvement while maintaining high-quality products and delivery of service.
- Supporting and leading various projects from conception to closure, adhering to policies and procedures, and championing the VPI purchasing common processes.
- Procuring inventory, supplies, and capital goods, obtaining quotations, and raising orders on vendors.
- Expediting orders to ensure timely delivery, analyzing sourcing and purchasing initiatives, and following processes to deliver cost-effective and high-quality goods and services.
- Engaging in design and process responsibilities to achieve cost-effective products, conducting minor supplier negotiations, and supporting purchasing/sourcing management in activities such as price benchmarking, vendor management, process analysis, market and industry research, and model building.
Qualifications
- Working towards a degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, or a related subject.
- Accredited qualification in Technical or Manufacturing Process background with relevant industry experience and basic knowledge of supply chain practices.
- A willingness to challenge processes and designs as experience develops, demonstrating working to committed deadlines.
- Good MS package experience and a structured approach to problem solving and project management, combined with the ability to manage concurrent projects and deal with various priorities.
