Our work is critical and multifaceted, encompassing various facets such as supporting the government's strategy, identifying nuclear threats, and building an expert group of individuals in nuclear science and technology.

The role offers a diverse experience, involving environmental risk assessments, ensuring compliance with Environmental Permit conditions, and driving environmental improvements through the delivery of the Environmental Sustainability Strategy and annual improvement plan.

This includes projects aimed at climate change resilience and transitioning to net zero.

As an Environmental Specialist, you will work alongside other professionals, interfacing with facility operators and project managers as part of an integrated team.

This placement is designed to help you:

• Develop a deep understanding of our Environmental Management System and gain practical experience in operational areas.
• Gain experience in Environmental Risk Assessment and risk-based inspections in line with relevant legislation, industry standards, and our policies.
• Develop an understanding of our approach to sustainability, including plans for reducing carbon, enhancing biodiversity, and embedding the principles of the circular economy.
• Gain practical experience in delivering sustainability initiatives.
• Gain experience in using sustainability assessment tools.

Requirements:

• Passion for environmental sustainability, with a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or other STEM disciplines.
