Position Overview
The Modelling & Simulation (M&S) division within our organization is seeking a skilled Software Developer to contribute to the development of advanced simulation systems. This role involves engaging with various stages of the product lifecycle, from initial concept analysis to comprehensive testing and evaluation.
The successful candidate will work within the Simulation department, focusing on the development of an Active Cockpit simulator and associated tools. Collaboration with engineers and pilots will be essential in prototyping innovative avionic and cockpit designs. This position offers a diverse range of responsibilities, from sophisticated software development to trial preparation and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop large-scale, mission-critical software solutions.
- Manage requirements from design through implementation, ensuring timely integration and testing.
- Adopt best practices in systems engineering.
- Provide regular updates on project progress to team members and leadership.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
- Architect complex technical solutions.
- Plan and estimate development tasks effectively.
- Identify and manage technical risks and project tasks.
- Collaborate with clients to support delivered systems and troubleshoot issues.
- Mentor and guide junior team members.
- Enhance and refine development processes.
- Develop system architectures that align with evolving IT and security requirements.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proficient in C/C++ programming, particularly with Visual Studio.
- Experience in developing User Interfaces and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI).
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Mercurial and Git.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing requirements.
- Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
- Security clearance is required.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
- Experience in leading tasks and managing quality management system documentation.
- Experience in mentoring others.
- Cross-platform development experience on Windows and Linux.
- Knowledge of Eurofighter, Typhoon, avionics, or mission systems.
- Proficient in using Jira for software task management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence in presenting technical information to diverse stakeholders.
- General knowledge and interest in military aircraft.
Qualifications:
- HND/HNC, or a degree (BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng) in a relevant STEM field or equivalent experience.
- Eligibility for UK Security Clearance.
