PMLD Teaching Assistant Job Description

Reeson Education is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic PMLD Teaching Assistant to join our special needs school in Lewisham, working with students who require support with their learning and development. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with complex needs.

About the Role
  • Support students with profound multi-learning disabilities (PMLD) in KS2 aged classes.
  • Lewisham location offering easy access to central London.
  • Full-time role, Monday - Friday.
  • Small class sizes for effective learning.
  • Regular CPD training every week to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Friendly and well-run school environment.
Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with class teachers to raise student learning outcomes.
  2. Promote independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion among pupils.
  3. Provide individual or group support to enable students to access the curriculum and experience a sense of achievement.
  4. Contribute to lesson planning, preparation, and resourcing for play-based learning.
  5. Facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities.
  6. Implement effective behaviour management strategies aligned with the school's policy.
  7. Maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment through efficient organisation and resource management.
  8. Support personal care when needed in collaboration with other staff members.
