Locomotive Engineer

About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Locomotive Engineer to join our team at Colas Rail. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of freight trains.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe and productive operation of freight trains
- Train driving duties in accordance with laid-down procedures
- Ensure safety of the line and all employees and public
- LTKA training and asset management
- Lead in-service locomotive fault-finding and assist in repairs
- Record and report locomotive and train defects
- Prepare locomotives for service
- Train preparation and loads examination duties
- Simplified brake test as directed
- Route learning and sign for routes after sufficient time
- Assist maintenance staff and undertake weekly locomotive exams
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Appropriate traction knowledge
- Freight rules and regulations
- Basic wagon knowledge
- Personal Track Safety
- Current route knowledge for the LNE Region is advantageous
