About the Role

The Train Service Manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of the GWR train service as per the timetable. This involves working with GWR colleagues and Network Rail to provide the best possible journey experience for customers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the delivery of the timetable promise by using initiative and innovation to monitor live train running and prevent regulation of trains that would be detrimental to GWR business interests.
  • Make effective use of resources available to the business to deliver the train service that meets customer needs and expectations.
  • Maintain high-level contact with Network Rail and stations to influence train performance during disruptions.
  • Ensure relevant systems are updated promptly and proactively.
  • Implement contingency plans and service recovery plans during times of disruption.
  • Contribute to the daily company log, incorporating business issues, incidents, service monitoring, and regulation issues.

Requirements

  • Calm under pressure and able to react confidently in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Able to understand the impact of decisions in the medium to long term.
  • Able to influence and communicate across all levels.
