About the Role

The Isle of Wight Council's The Island Learning Centre is a specialist school that provides a stimulating environment for students who require additional support due to various reasons. As an Assistant Headteacher, you will play a vital role in ensuring that every student receives the best possible education and support.

Reporting to the Headteacher, this position involves working closely with teachers, teaching assistants, and other support staff to deliver high-quality learning experiences. Your primary responsibility will be to support students with complex needs, including those with medical conditions, mental health issues, or behavioral difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing individualized learning plans that cater to the diverse needs of each student.
  • Providing expert guidance and support to teachers and teaching assistants to enhance the delivery of inclusive education.
  • Maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with parents, carers, and other stakeholders.
  • Leading by example, promoting positive relationships between staff, students, and families.

Requirements

  • A strong background in teaching or education, preferably with experience in supporting students with SEN.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building trust and respect.
  • A deep understanding of child development and the importance of early intervention.

Salary and Benefits

Our salary scale is £55,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience. You will also enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including:
