Technical Manager Job Description

As a Technical Manager at Gleeson Development Ltd, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our company. You will work closely with the Technical Director, the Technical & Commercial team, and the wider business to manage and coordinate all aspects of the Architectural, Engineering, and Design/Planning activities of the region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the evaluation and appraisal of development opportunities, providing information required to purchase land.
  • Advise on and secure planning approvals, delivering and reporting as per Group policies and processes to meet the Region's business plan.
  • Manage external planning, architectural, and engineering consultants to ensure timely and budget-friendly design information.
  • Progress initial communications with technical specialist suppliers and contractors.
  • Provide the RMD and Land Director with operational and tactical planning reports and assessments, presenting clear and reasoned planning advice.
Requirements:
  • A relevant qualification and/or broad experience in Technical/planning with an Engineering focus.
  • Strong knowledge of the full development/Technical process/Commercial awareness.
  • Broad knowledge of the legal frameworks associated with planning management and development procurement.
  • Previous experience as either a project or discipline manager within a development organization.
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Awareness of Type approval with NHBC, LABC, and SBD.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing requirements.
  • Numerical and literate.
  • Broad awareness of H&S/CDM regulations.
  • Technically competent in using AutoCAD.
  • Generous holiday entitlement of 26 days per annum + bank holidays.
