Role Overview
Long-term Teachers Ltd is seeking a dedicated and passionate Outdoor Education Teacher to join our team at a vibrant SEN school that specialises in supporting students with autism and ADHD.
About the Role
As an Outdoor Education Teacher, you will take the lead in designing and delivering an alternative curriculum that extends far beyond the four walls of a classroom. Working in close partnership with a multidisciplinary team, you will create and manage outdoor learning programs and sensory-based activities, tailored to the needs of the students.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver outdoor education based activities: Develop and lead a curriculum focused on nature-based, practical and sensory activities that support social skills, emotional regulation and academic goals in line with the national curriculum.
- Individualised learning: Tailor activities to suit the needs of each student, incorporating strategies that promote engagement, skill building and personal growth.
- Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers, SEN specialists and therapists to align LOTC activities with classroom learning objectives and therapeutic goals.
- Safety and wellbeing: Ensure a safe, supportive and stimulating environment for all students, being mindful of the sensory and behavioural needs associated with ASD and ADHD.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience with special educational needs (SEN).
- Passion for outdoor education: Demonstrated experience in or a passion for delivering outdoor and experiential learning activities.
- Understanding of ASD and ADHD: Knowledge of best practices in supporting students with ASD, ADHD and related needs.
- Strong communication skills: Ability to engage effectively with students, staff and families, and to foster positive, supportive relationships.
- Relevant outdoor education qualifications would be highly advantageous.
Working Hours
8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday, term-time only.
