Job Summary:

The role of a Pharmacy Technician in our team involves supporting the Clinical Pharmacists in developing, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive medicines management service at ward level. This includes medicines reconciliation, assessment of patients' own medications, provision of original pack dispensing, counselling patients about their medications, and coordinating the supply of discharge medications.

This position requires a high level of autonomy and the ability to work accurately under pressure within departmental standards of practice. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medicines Management: Develop and implement medicines management services at ward level, including medicines reconciliation, patient counselling, and medication supply coordination.
  • Dispensary Operations: Assist in the delivery of a responsive and proactive clinical pharmacy service, promoting safe, effective, and cost-effective drug use.
  • Education and Training: Provide training and support to pharmacy staff on medicines management and clinical governance initiatives.
  • Research and Development: Participate in pharmacy practice research and clinical audit to improve patient care and safety.
  • Other Duties: Deputise for the Pharmacy Technician Team Manager as required.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Pharmacy Service Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification or working towards.
  • Experience of hospital pharmacy practice, including medicines management at ward level.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Able to work accurately under pressure within departmental standards of practice.

Estimated Salary: £32,000 - £42,000 per annum.
