About the Role

This Commercial Legal Counsel position reports directly to the Senior Legal Counsel for the UK and Ireland region. As part of the General Secretary team at Danone, which comprises Corporate Affairs, Public Affairs, Regulatory, Sustainability, Legal & Compliance, Corporate Communications, and Purpose & BCorp teams, this role demands close collaboration with various subject matter experts.

  • Lead negotiations and draft commercial contracts encompassing services, supplies, manufacturing, finance, consulting, marketing, sales, transportation, and warehousing agreements.
  • Partner with internal brand teams to co-develop and implement key product campaigns and initiatives across the entire portfolio of brands (Essential Dairy, Plant-Based, Beverages, Specialized Nutrition).
  • Collaborate with Compliance on data protection matters, including supporting DPIAs, SARs, and data protection agreements.
  • Provide clear and prompt guidance to multiple functions in the UK and Ireland, including procurement, research, innovation, scientific affairs, finance, sustainability, public affairs, communications, facilities, sales, and marketing, minimizing reliance on external counsel.
  • Work with Global and Local colleagues to develop, improve, and implement corporate governance processes, contracting guidelines, processes, and training for the business.
  • Lead commercial contract drafting/reviewing (marketing, sales, distributor, supplier, consumer, partnerships, MSAs, NDAs, data protection agreements).

You will possess strong commercial acumen and provide pragmatic legal advice. Your expertise in GDPR and data protection (DPIAs, data processing agreements, SARs) is essential, as well as experience in competition law, IP, and consumer products.

Compensation Package

Please note that the salary offered for this role falls within the range of £75,000 - £85,000 + bonus.
