Job Introduction

We're seeking an experienced Estates Surveyor to join our team in the South West, preferably in Bristol. As an Estates Surveyor, you'll play a critical role in the management of our operational and non-operational property portfolio.

Reporting to the Property Manager, you'll provide a professional service in relation to property management, including lease renewals, land acquisition, title rectification, property disposal, dilapidation management, letting services, and rent reviews.

Main Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking site visits and negotiations in relation to property management
  • Managing property matters within statutory and contractual time limits
  • Assisting other colleagues in the provision of property management services
  • Managing processes to ensure administration of property records and compliance with external audit, regulatory, and financial reporting requirements
  • Identifying and contributing to the development and implementation of new property policies and processes
  • Promoting and supporting the development of technical skills across the business
  • Preparing and delivering property-related projects, including project proposals and estimated project budgets
  • Active control of property management-related costs
  • Maintaining efficiency and a high quality in own work, together with responsibility for own performance, behaviour, and personal development
  • Respecting and maintaining the confidentiality of Western Power Distribution's business information

Ideal Candidate

We're looking for a qualified and experienced Estates Surveyor who possesses:

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent and membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) would be an advantage, but not essential
  • Proven practical and professional experience relevant to the role
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and regulations
  • A valid driving licence and a willingness to travel across Western Power Distribution's licence areas
  • Strong commercial awareness, negotiating, and risk management skills
  • Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload, work under pressure, make decisions, and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong team working skills
  • Excellent communication skills
