Volunteer Reader

We are looking for enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our team as Volunteer Readers. In this role, you will visit individuals in their homes or at our service centers and engage them in reading activities.

As a Volunteer Reader, you will provide companionship and emotional support to individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs who may also have sight loss. Your role will involve developing and maintaining relationships with individuals and their families, as well as assisting with daily tasks.

**Key Responsibilities:**

• Visit individuals in their homes or at our service centers to engage in reading activities
• Provide companionship and emotional support to individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs
• Assist individuals with daily tasks, such as grooming and personal care
• Develop and maintain relationships with individuals and their families

**Requirements:**

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with individuals with complex needs
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection procedures
• DBS check and two satisfactory references required
