Fire and Rescue Vehicle Engineer

About the Job
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue is looking for a skilled Fire and Rescue Vehicle Engineer to join its team in Melksham. This full-time role requires 37 hours of work per week, with a competitive salary of up to £40,601, including overtime.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing fire and rescue vehicles and equipment to meet strict standards. Key tasks include:
- Inspecting and testing vehicles to identify any defects or issues.
- Carrying out modifications, including fabrication of components, to optimize vehicle performance.
- Delivering high-quality work within specified timeframes and adopting efficient working practices.
- Participating in an 'out-of-hours' duty fitter rota to provide emergency support.
- Liaising with manufacturers and suppliers to aid diagnosis and rectification of defects.
- Collaborating with the Fleet Workshop Supervisor to maintain a smooth workshop function.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Possessing a full current driving license.
- Able to travel and use their own vehicle.
- In possession of a Category C license (or willingness to obtain).
- Participation in the emergency out-of-hours scheme.
