About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Policy Officer to join our International Trade Team within the EU, Trade and the Union Directorate at the Department of Health and Social Care.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our efforts to deliver the government's trade agenda, including through supporting project management and governance. This will involve working closely with stakeholders across government and the life sciences sector to develop and implement trade policies that promote the health and care interests of the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting research for our trade policy on regulatory issues relating to medicines and medical devices, working across government and with life sciences stakeholders as required;
  • Playing a cross-cutting role across the team in supporting our efforts to deliver the government's trade agenda, including through supporting project management and governance;
  • Providing updates and knowledge and information management to support the trade policy team;
  • Supporting workstreams that the International Trade team delivers, which could include work to address market access barriers and the development of DHSC's wider trade strategy;
Requirements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact confidently and professionally with stakeholders;
  • Good drafting skills, including the capacity to adapt styles and formats as required;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, balancing a range of competing priorities whilst ensuring deadlines are met;
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities;
