Job Title: Procurement Officer/Senior Procurement Officer

McLaren Automotive is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Officer/Senior Procurement Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Procurement function, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of our new programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Commodity Procurement team to develop and implement Category Strategies for our commodity areas.
  • Lead the RFQ process, ensuring competitive tension is maintained to deliver the best possible commercial and technology results for McLaren.
  • Analyze and interrogate suppliers' RFQ responses to deliver comprehensive quotations and a total cost picture for negotiation and contracting.
  • Build strong relationships with VLD and Engineering teams to ensure cross-functional cooperation and deliver 'one voice' to the McLaren supplier base.
  • Work closely with Procurement Project Managers to ensure timely completion of procurement activities for our commodity areas.
  • Develop close relationships with SQD Engineers to deliver seamless cost, timing, and quality programme requirements.
  • Ensure supplier tooling costs are fully interrogated and tooling is delivered on time and to cost.
  • Maintain the tooling/asset register, including photographic records of tools with McLaren asset tags.
Requirements:
  • University degree in Business or Engineering (ideally automotive, aerospace, or mechanical) or similar.
  • Deep understanding of the Procurement function and processes, with demonstrable experience of managing multi-national suppliers.
  • At least 3 years' experience as a buyer and senior buyer with an Automotive Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or a minimum of 3 years' experience as a senior buyer within a manufacturing business or First Tier Automotive supplier.
  • Experience of delivering procurement activities for new programmes, aligned to category strategies and through cross-functional collaboration with Engineering.
  • Well-proven skills in Quotation Analysis Form (QAF) interrogation and a good understanding of suppliers' cost drivers.
  • Experience of high-volume and niche vehicle Procurement, with the ability to apply best practice as appropriate.
  • Experienced with financial analysis for assessing suppliers' health and building business cases internally.
  • Fluent written and verbal English is essential.
