About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatrician to join our team as a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine. The successful candidate will provide medical leadership and professional accountability for patients under their care, working closely with primary and community care services to ensure the best possible outcomes for frail, older patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical leadership and professional accountability for patients under their care
  • Work closely with primary and community care services to ensure the best possible outcomes for frail, older patients
  • Supervise junior or middle-grade medical staff and support them in their professional development
  • Build on existing good relationships with primary and community care services to identify risk factors and signpost patients to services that will support them to maintain their independence
  • Co-ordinate specialist multi-disciplinary meetings to ensure patients have robust care plans
Requirements
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP)
  • Full General Medical Council Registration
  • 4-5 years training at ST3+ level in General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine
  • Experience in the clinical management of elderly patients
  • Ability to make decisions at Consultant level and take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients
