At Matchtech, we're seeking a skilled Highway Infrastructure Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our highways and transportation division, you'll play a crucial role in delivering high-quality projects that enhance the UK's road network.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineer to work on a wide range of highway improvement and traffic engineering schemes. You'll collaborate with project managers, commercial, and construction teams to plan and implement schemes within budget and programme, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental objectives.

Your expertise will be invaluable in consulting with stakeholders, ensuring relevant standards are applied, and delivering solutions that provide best value. You'll also have the opportunity to mentor trainee and graduate engineers, helping them develop their skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop designs for highway improvement and traffic engineering schemes in urban and rural settings
  • Work closely with project teams to plan and implement schemes within budget and programme
  • Consult with stakeholders to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental objectives
  • Apply relevant standards to deliver solutions that provide best value
  • Mentor trainee and graduate engineers to develop their skills and knowledge
Requirements

We're looking for an experienced Highway Engineer who can bring their technical expertise and interpersonal skills to this role. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A track record of delivering highways and transport design projects as part of a team of professional engineers
  • Working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges/Specification for Highway Works relating to the design and maintenance of local authority highway and transport schemes
  • Experience with active travel projects
  • Site-based highways experience providing an understanding of buildability, traffic management, and construction programming (desirable)
  • A relevant degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent; or Foundation Degree/HNC/HND with sufficient post-qualification experience
  • Actively working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the Institution of Civil Engineers or an equivalent professional body
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative team player with a 'can-do' approach
