About the Role

The County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Practitioner to join their Infection Prevention and Control team. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in monitoring compliance with Trust policies and procedures, supporting the implementation of infection prevention and control theory into practice, and providing education and training to clinical staff.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work independently and in conjunction with the Infection Prevention and Control team to monitor compliance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the implementation of infection prevention and control theory into practice.
  • Support, coach, and mentor clinical teams, wards, and departments in the principles of infection prevention and control.
  • Ensure that infection prevention and control documentation is completed appropriately.
  • Support other members of the Infection Prevention and Control team with infection prevention and control advice and formal and informal training.
  • Assist the Infection Prevention and Control team with audit data collection, input, and analysis.

Person Specification

  • Ability to travel between sites.
  • Experience of working as a healthcare assistant.
  • Previous experience working within infection control.
  • Formal teaching experience.
  • Foundation degree or nursing associate qualification.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Clinical competence including maintaining confidentiality.
  • IT literate and computer skills.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with nursing and medical staff.
  • Ability to plan and organize projects.
  • Works well using own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Assertive.
  • Polite, calm, and professional manner.
