Bring your expertise and passion for gas markets and regulatory frameworks to Shell Energy Europe and Africa (SEA), a dynamic organization driving the Energy Transition. As a Regulatory Affairs Specialist, you will join the Regulatory Affairs Team, scanning the political, legislative, and regulatory landscape for trends and opportunities. Working closely with commercial colleagues, you will build a case to pursue opportunities or mitigate threats, influencing the development of the regulatory framework for gas and biomethane in the Netherlands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Focal point for traders and originators on NL gas and biomethane regulation, anticipating and influencing regulatory developments.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders, including Trading & Supply Products team, Products Compliance team, Renewable Energy Solutions, Government Relations, and Legal.
  • Develop strong working relationships with national authorities and agencies responsible for the regulatory framework of gas and biomethane certificates.

This role requires occasional travel to the Netherlands and other locations as needed. We are keen to see individuals with knowledge of the regulatory framework for gas or biomethane and/or certificates for renewable sources, with strong commercial acumen and creativity.

Requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in written and spoken English.
  • University educated, ideally with a post-graduate qualification with a strong analytical component and evidence of strong academic performance.
  • Project management/coordination skills.
  • Influencing skills, ability to inform and influence multiple stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting regulations, ability to synthesize relevant information and draw commercial implications.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate opinions and advise on commercial impact and regulatory feasibility.
  • Self-starter, able to initiate new opportunities and meet/exceed performance targets.
