At Nimbus, we're seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping our cutting-edge data ecosystem. This exciting opportunity will see you design and implement a scalable data architecture, managing data extraction, transformation, and integration with third-party sources to enhance analytics capabilities.

About the Role

As a Data Engineer, you'll collaborate with stakeholders to develop data models that support diverse reporting needs and create dashboards to deliver valuable insights. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • System Design & Architecture: Investigate, select, and implement the tooling and technologies required to build an end-to-end data warehouse solution, taking into account current and future requirements.
  • Third-Party Data Integration: Identify opportunities to ingest data from third parties to enrich current reporting capabilities and implement integrations to facilitate such a strategy.
  • Data Modelling: Liaise with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements for internal and external customer use cases from multiple internal and external data sources.
  • Analytics & Business Intelligence (BI): Develop a strategy to create reports and dashboards that enable valuable insights and BI to be mined from the data warehouse, exploring available third-party tool options.
  • AI Foundations: Lay the foundations to enable development of a future AI strategy to provide predictive decision-making around fire risk assessment and proactive maintenance.
Qualifications & Experience

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working with database technologies, specifically analytical data warehouse/data lake solutions.
  • Experience using ETL/ELT tooling and building data pipelines.
  • Good working knowledge of programming languages, including SQL, Python, Java, and Bash/Shell Scripting.
  • Experience modelling complex data to answer business-critical questions.
  • Experience using data visualization tools for BI insights and data analytics.
