Job Opportunity: Trainee Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our Transmission business as a Trainee Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in energy engineering, working on real-world projects and collaborating with experienced engineers.

About the Role

As a Trainee Engineer, you will be responsible for studying towards a HNC and Diploma in Higher Education in Energy Engineering, while gaining hands-on experience in our Transmission business. You will work on site and in the field, alongside experienced SSE engineers and craftspeople, and have opportunities to work towards becoming a Low Voltage Switcher and then a High Voltage Switching Engineer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Study towards a HNC and Diploma in Higher Education in Energy Engineering
  • Gain hands-on experience in our Transmission business
  • Work on site and in the field, alongside experienced SSE engineers and craftspeople
  • Develop skills and knowledge in energy engineering
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and craftspeople
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to have or expect to achieve the following qualifications prior to starting the programme in August 2025:

  • 1 Scottish Higher at grade C or above in Maths or Physics
  • 1 A level at grade D or above in Maths or Physics
  • NC/NQ Engineering at SCQF level 6 or equivalent
  • Foundation Apprenticeship Engineering
