Data Engineer for High-Performance Data Solutions
6 days ago
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Data/BI Engineer to join our IT department at Iglu, contributing to the organization's ambitious goals by shaping and processing quality data at scale.
As a member of our team of data engineers, you will work with SQL Server and AWS to produce data sources for reporting and analytics. Your key responsibilities include shaping data into new models for analysis, integrating new data into the environment, and maintaining the data platform.
Our core platform is built on MS SQL Server, but we are expanding and learning to use more AWS services such as Athena, Glue, and Sage Maker.
You will make a significant contribution to our business, helping us make informed decisions from the insights your data provides.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Microsoft SQL Server databases and SSIS, as well as expertise in T-SQL knowledge and debugging, optimization, and performance tuning of complex SQL Server procedures/functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Data Product Owner to scope, plan, and estimate new data processing needs.
- Build data pipelines (SQL/SSIS/AWS Glue/Athena) to ingest data from internal/external data stores and transform the data as needed.
- Collaborate with business users to clarify requirements.
- Integrate data from our systems into our data warehouse to produce our 'source of truth' for all reporting and analysis.
- Have sound knowledge of cloud data pipeline tools (AWS preferred), architecture, big data systems, and how to scale these to process high data volume/velocity.
About the Person:
We value individual strengths and contributions, and successful candidates typically possess:
- A passion for data and its potential to drive business decisions.
- An appetite for personal development and growth.
- Strong self-awareness regarding time management and prioritization.
- Diligence and conscientiousness in their work.
- Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic environment.
- A strong sense of personal drive and initiative.
- Solution-focused thinking and communication skills.
- Ability to build trust and offer support within the team and across the business.
Requirements:
- Experience with SQL Server (T-SQL, query optimization, indexing, partitioning).
- Knowledge of SSIS and PowerShell.
- Data modeling skills.
- Python programming experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- AWS experience (Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Athena).
Compensation: We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance, retirement planning, and paid time off.
