Community Health and Engagement Officer Role

We are seeking a skilled Community Health and Engagement Officer to join our East Sussex Wheelchair Services team in Eastbourne. As a Community Health and Engagement Officer, you will play a vital role in creating and managing stakeholder relationships, ensuring all key stakeholders are engaged and actively involved in service provision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote the importance of user lived experience in service improvement and social model of disability within the service.
  • Create and manage a stakeholder relationship plan to engage key stakeholders and ensure their active participation in service provision.
  • Contribute to service quality assurance procedures, recruit and lead a service users board, and support ongoing service improvement activities.
  • Support users who are not eligible for a wheelchair, help identify options available, and support users to navigate the complaints process.
  • Network with professionals in other services to promote knowledge of the wheelchair service and highlight areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Lived experience of vulnerable children and adults, gained through personal or carer use, including personal experience of wheelchair and other healthcare equipment and services.
  • Experience of strategic and project planning and decision making.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including demonstrable knowledge and practice of customer care including conflict management.
  • Marketing/PR experience would be advantageous.
  • A UK driving licence is essential.
