Your New Role

As a team lead, you will be responsible for the operation of your allocated area within the Manufacturing department, supporting the Workshop Supervisor with the day-to-day management of workshop activities and requirements while working as a team member on the shop floor, to ensure product specification, deadlines, and quality standards are achieved.

You will oversee and coordinate a team of fitter/wiremen, ensuring compliance with all company policies and health and safety regulations. You will provide line management to the team, coordinating their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues, and ensuring production targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and quality standards are met in order to meet the requirements of the business.

You will support the development of the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards, while fostering a culture of working safely.

You will be responsible for 5s and lean manufacturing within the working bay, including ensuring production paperwork is correctly filled out and within the set deadline, defects will be reported. You will be accountable for quality and equipment within the working area of your team.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Support the Workshop Supervisor with planning workloads and delegating tasks to a team of fitter/wiremen in the production area to ensure efficiency and maximise output.
  2. Support continuous improvement across the business by eliminating waste and driving improvement of processes where applicable.
  3. Support the development of a skilled workforce by identifying training requirements, offering training and guidance to both new and existing fitter/wiremen.
  4. Demonstrate good communication skills with team members and management throughout the company.
  5. Ensure all manufacturing processes and procedures are compliant with the company's policies and procedures, as well as Health and Safety requirements.
  6. Ensuring all production paperwork is complete correctly and within deadlines.
  7. Ensuring that the workshop work areas are clean and tidy according to R&B Standards.
  8. Providing teams with information about recent developments, programmes, and policy changes of management.

Requirements
  1. Ideal experience of working within an engineering workshop.
  2. Experience of assisting and developing (multi-skilled) people.
  3. Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and recognised tools.
  4. Understanding of production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap, and re-work.
  5. Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.
  6. Employee training experience.
  7. Flexible and with a positive attitude.
  8. Full UK Driving License is required.
