Research Nurse – Early Phase Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Nurse to join our team at Velindre Cancer Centre. As a Research Nurse, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of early phase clinical trials, working closely with our multidisciplinary research teams to ensure the successful execution of these studies.
Main Responsibilities- Coordinate the delivery of early phase clinical trials, including the coordination of research protocols and the implementation of trial procedures.
- Provide information and support to cancer patients considering entry into an early phase clinical trial, including explaining complex trial information in both written and oral forms.
- Describe and explain complex information to medical staff, health professionals, and allied health professionals, including the logistics of conducting a clinical trial.
- Give formal and informal presentations to patients, carers, health professionals, and research organisations, raising awareness of clinical trials.
- Communicate with other trials offices and outside organisations locally, nationally, and worldwide, including the coordination of meetings and the negotiation of trial logistics.

Requirements- 1st Level Registered Nurse with evidence of continued professional development.
- Post basic qualification in cancer care/research or willingness to work towards.
- Graduate or willingness to work towards.
- Knowledge of the research process and regulatory requirements ICH-GCP.
- Clinical Research Qualification.
- Teaching qualification.
- ECDL.
- Phase I/II trial experience.
- ITU/HDU experience.
- Venepuncture/cannulation skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good patient advocate.
- IT Skills - able to use WORD, Internet, and Email.
- Ability to travel, in the course of duties.
- Flexible approach to working hours according to service needs.
