We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Media Specialist to join our team at the Digital Preservation Coalition. As a key member of our Data & Digital Preservation department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the long-term accessibility and preservation of our digital media collections.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in technical functions including transcoding, media management, quality control, and digital preservation. You will be responsible for providing a range of technical functions on exclusively digital media, including transcoding, media management, normalization, quality control, upload to file transfer solutions, and ingest to the Digital Preservation Infrastructure.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing technical functions on digital media, including transcoding, media management, and quality control.
  2. Operating technical equipment relating to digital access and preservation operations, including workstations, transcoding software, and data storage peripherals.
  3. Assisting with and advising on specifications, quality control, and verification processes to meet agreed quality standards and deadlines.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of digital audiovisual formats, including Digital Cinema Packages, Apple ProRes/Quicktime, DPX, and open source FFV1/Matroska. You will also need to have the ability to recognize and diagnose technical problems with digital media and deliver first-line remedial action.

Working familiarity with common computer operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS, or Linux, is essential. If you have a passion for digital media preservation and a strong technical background, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
