Job Summary:

The UK Health Security Agency is seeking a highly skilled Social Science Specialist to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice on risk communication and community engagement strategies in the context of public health emergencies.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement effective risk communication and community engagement strategies to inform public health decisions.
  2. Conduct rapid assessments and operational research to inform risk communication and community engagement plans.
  3. Provide training and capacity development for international partners on risk communications, community engagement, and health promotion.
  4. Support the development and implementation of sustainable RCCE and operational social science plans in low- and middle-income countries.
  5. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and collaboration in risk communication and community engagement efforts.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of experts in public health and social science. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, including outbreak response, capacity strengthening, and research.

Requirements:

  1. MSc or PhD in Social and Behavioural Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Education, Communication, Public Relations or another relevant field.
  2. Proven experience in risk communication and community engagement, including participatory and qualitative methods.
  3. Experience in delivering training and capacity development in risk communications, community engagement, and health promotion.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to construct and deliver clear ideas and concepts concisely and accurately for diverse audiences.
