Maintenance Engineer Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at West Somerset Free Press Limited. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our production equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine checks, inspections, and emergency repairs on machinery to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production flow.
  • Carry out maintenance on mechanical components (gears, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics) or electrical systems (motors, wiring, PLCs) based on your expertise.
  • Investigate and resolve issues within production machinery, determining underlying causes and implementing long-term solutions.
  • Work alongside other engineers, production teams, and technical departments to ensure minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Ensure that all work is conducted in compliance with company policies and relevant health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Mechanical or Electrical Bias: We are open to candidates with either a mechanical or electrical background. Multi-skilled engineers will be considered at the higher salary bracket.
  • Experience: Proven experience in hands-on maintenance within an FMCG, manufacturing, or industrial setting, with a strong focus on pneumatic systems.
  • Engineering Qualification: Recognized qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) such as HND, HNC, City & Guilds, or equivalent.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective solutions for mechanical or electrical breakdowns.
