About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Animal Care Specialist to join our team at Charles River. As an Animal Care Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of animals in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and healthy environment for animals, including monitoring their welfare and reporting any concerns.
  • Perform routine husbandry tasks, such as cleaning cages and feeding animals, to ensure their physical and emotional needs are met.
  • Assist in the care and handling of animals, including weighing, measuring, and administering medications as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the smooth operation of animal care activities, including scheduling and record-keeping.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in animal care and welfare.
Requirements
  • Education to degree level or equivalent, including Animal Technician level 2 or other animal-related qualifications.
  • Good understanding of Home Office and accreditation body guidelines.
  • Knowledge and experience of licensed procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable means of transportation or a willingness to use public transportation.
