Aerospace Weights Engineer Role Overview

Preston-based aerospace company seeks a skilled engineer to join their Structure & Systems teams. This opportunity involves working with cutting-edge technology, in a progressive team with extensive training and development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Defining and carrying out engineering tasks within your span of responsibility for you and any subordinate staff under your control.
  • Agreeing your work plan with your line manager and applying the most efficient engineering methods available.
  • Ensuring the technical content of your work and also that of subordinate staff, including deliverables are acceptable.
  • Ensuring effective interactions with your team, customers, and others, to promote the best interests of the team, department and company.
  • Providing efficiency and effectiveness suggestions for the development of Weights Engineering toolsets and processes within the discipline capability development framework.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft structure and systems Weights Engineering processes and methods, including early lifecycle weight, centre of gravity and inertia property assessment, and the management of weight targets.
  • Degree/HND/HNC in a STEM subject or equivalent professional qualifications in terms of formal education.
  • Relevant experience working within a Weights Engineering, Structural Engineering or Airframe related discipline.
  • Previous experience of managing staff would be advantageous.
