Multi Skilled Engineer

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Multi Skilled Engineer to join our Engineering Team at Avara Foods. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for optimising machinery output and product quality, minimising plant downtime, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance and Breakdown/Reactive Maintenance of Plant and Equipment
- Ensure Engineering maintenance is carried out in line with the current schedule and effective corrective action is taken
- Quick and effective response to breakdowns, identifying root cause and suggesting improvements to prevent further breakdowns
- Communicate unscheduled breakdowns to Management and work with the operations department to minimise plant disruption
- Record and identify spare parts used through CMMS and report to the Engineering Manager
- Follow good engineering standards and good hygiene practice for the department across the whole site
- Ensure Maintenance and Engineering practices are audit compliant
- Ensure all activities are carried out within company and legislative health and safety and environmental guidelines, reporting any issues
- Ensure compliance through regular process weigher and Liquid meter calibrations (Weights and Measures Act)
- Proficient in engineering operations whilst working in hazardous environments (Confined Space Entry, Hot working in confined spaces, Hot working, WAH)
- Participate in Mechanical projects and installations – Elevators, conveyors, machine installs, machine refurbishment
- Participate in Electrical projects and installations – Panel manufacture and installation, PLC upgrades, PAT testing, thermographic surveying
- Efficient operations of effluent plant systems ensuring environmental compliance
- Understand the operations of fire suppression systems – Fire Trace, Sprinkler system, Hydrant system
- Demonstrate understanding of environmental impacts – DSEAR, Dust controls and Explosion mitigation
Requirements:
- Time served Multi-skilled Apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline
- Proactive and dynamic approach to safety
- Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure whilst having a high attention to detail
- Flexibility with a positive attitude and the ability to work well within a small team
- Food manufacture experience desirable
- IEE 17th or 18th Edition desirable
- PLC experience desirable
- Pneumatic and Hydraulic experience desirable
- Boiler Operator Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) certification desirable
