Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services team in East and North Herts. As a Locum Consultant, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care to young people with complex mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities- To assess and manage the mental health needs of young people, working closely with the multidisciplinary team and other agencies.
- To provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior medical staff, ensuring they operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant.
- To undertake administrative duties associated with patient care, including recording clinical activity and submitting reports to the Information Department.
- To participate in service and business planning activity for the locality and contribute to the development of the mental health service.
- To maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and abide by professional codes of conduct.
We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with:
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- Experience of working with young people with complex mental health needs and a strong understanding of the bio-psycho-social perspective.
- Excellent clinical skills, including the ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and other agencies.
