Senior Aircraft Loads Engineer

Our innovative project has been operating discreetly since 2017, working towards a groundbreaking goal of revolutionizing logistics and mobility through cutting-edge aerospace vehicle solutions.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Aircraft Loads Engineer to join our team. In this critical role, you will lead the development of loads for our aircraft, ensuring aerodynamic, maneuver, and ground loads are accurately derived and analyzed. This position will be pivotal in our vehicle development program, which is a highly innovative and intricate project.

  • Responsible for all aspects of aircraft loads, including derivation of flight maneuver, gust/turbulence, ground, and VTOL loads from first principles, compilation of load cases as per certification requirements, and building tools using Python/Matlab.
  • Focal point for all aircraft loads-related queries, providing expert guidance and support to the team.
  • Ability to apply theoretical knowledge to modify conventional aircraft loads to non-conventional configurations and validate the output.
  • Practical experience with Python programming and familiarity with the whole life cycle of loads, from derivation to generating load outputs for FE models.
  • Understanding and experience of performing Aeroelasticity analysis, including flutter and divergence.
  • Collaboration with various teams, including Flight Physics, Systems, Flight Test, and Structures, to ensure the structure is optimized for loads, weight, stiffness, and regulatory requirements.
  • Performing hand calculations using classical methods and FEA to assess primary and secondary structures, including metallic and composite materials.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field (Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant field) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the relevant field. Alternatively, a relevant PhD with at least a couple of years of relevant industry experience.
  • Programming, automation, and scripting skills, with expertise in Python, Matlab, or similar.
  • Experience with FEA software, including Altair Optistruct/Radioss, Nastran, Abaqus, or Ansys.
  • Strong knowledge of Aerospace regulations, standards, and methodologies for loads derivations and structural analysis.
  • Familiarity with Fatigue and Damage Tolerance, including generating fatigue spectrums and performing detailed fatigue analyses.
  • Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence experience is a plus.
