The Burman Recruitment team is seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Specialist to join their IT infrastructure team.

This hybrid role offers a unique blend of flexibility and challenge, with a competitive daily rate of £400.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud solutions that support the University's digital transformation strategy.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing IT systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing cloud solutions using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud;
  • Ensuring optimal configuration, scaling, and performance of cloud resources;
  • Conducting cloud cost management and optimization activities to maximize resource efficiency and minimize costs;

Additionally, you will collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure that cloud solutions adhere to data protection and privacy regulations, including GDPR.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP);
  • Proven experience in cloud infrastructure management, including deploying, scaling, and managing cloud resources;
  • Hands-on experience with cloud automation tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines;

Other essential skills and qualifications include:

  • Experience with cloud security practices and tools, including IAM, VPC, Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), and other security controls;
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and how they apply to cloud environments (e.g., VPN, VPC peering, Load Balancers);
  • Solid understanding of Linux/Unix and Windows server environments and administration in the cloud;
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless architectures;
