Job Title: Microsoft SQL Database Administrator

At ENGINEERINGUK, we're seeking a highly skilled Microsoft SQL Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our database administration team, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our 24/7 OLTP database systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Management:
    • Design, implement, and maintain database systems to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance.
    • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries to improve efficiency.
  • Automation:
    • Develop and maintain scripts, jobs, and workflows for automating routine tasks, such as patching, backups, data loading, and indexing.
    • Implement and enhance database automation processes to reduce manual intervention and improve efficiency.
  • Performance Tuning:
    • Identify bottlenecks and optimize database performance to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
    • Collaborate with development teams to enhance application performance and ensure seamless integration.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and network engineers, to ensure successful project delivery.
    • Lead projects to completion on time, ensuring strong communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience as a DBA, with a focus on SQL Server.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Experience with database automation tools, such as PowerShell and Python.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based databases, primarily AWS, is desirable.
  • AWS and Microsoft Certifications are a plus.
  • Service Now and working in Sprints using JIRA are essential skills.
