Job Title: Healthcare Support Worker

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at Wrightington Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting our nursing teams to deliver high-quality patient care and contribute to the smooth running of our wards and departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist patients with personal care, including washing, dressing, and hygiene needs.
  2. Support qualified nursing and medical staff with patient care and tasks as requested.
  3. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to maintain a positive and respectful environment.
  4. Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe environment, including cleaning and preparing patient beds and re-stocking resources.
  5. Participate in learning opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge.

Person Specification:
  • Flexible and able to work on any ward and site within the Trust.
  • Ability to work internal rotational shifts.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to deal with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to remain calm under pressure and demonstrate compassion and empathy.
  • Effective team player with a willingness to follow instructions.
  • Effective level of numeracy and literacy skills.
