Job Title: Community Medicine Specialist

Island Health is seeking a Community Medicine Specialist to join our team in Victoria, British Columbia. As a Community Medicine Specialist, you will provide primary care services to clients living with complex medical conditions, including persistent mental health and/or substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary care services for acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Screen and treat STIs and viral blood-borne illnesses
  • Refer clients to specialty services as needed
  • Provide addiction medicine services, including assessment and provision of OAT, alcohol anti-craving medications, Safer Supply, and harm reduction
  • Collaborate with the program Psychiatrist to provide mental health support

Requirements:

  • Medical degree and licensure to practice medicine in British Columbia
  • Experience in addiction medicine and mental health support
  • Ability to prescribe methadone
  • Advanced skills in addiction medicine
