Localisation Specialist Role

Help shape the Wise brand in the German market

We're looking for a skilled German Localisation Specialist to join our global localisation team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for localising and adapting our content to suit the German market.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a passion for words, experience in localisation, and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. You will work closely with the localisation coordination team and other localisation specialists to ensure that our content is accurate, engaging, and effective in the German market.

Your Mission

  1. Localise Product/Marketing/Support contents from English to German, maintaining the correct meaning, context, and tone of the source text.
  2. Proofread and edit translated contents for linguistic accuracy and clarity.
  3. Collaborate with other localisation team members to promote synergies between markets and refine tools, workflows, or processes in use in the team.
  4. Evaluate and report on vendor quality for a continuous improvement cycle.
  5. Perform QA and liaise with marketers, product owners, engineers, and other stakeholders to investigate, fix, or overcome issues and challenges.
  6. Define and ensure a consistent tone of voice – everywhere from web pages to customer support emails.
  7. Identify and address growth opportunities with German-speaking audiences.
  8. Establish and maintain language glossary, guidelines, and terminology for other language stakeholders and teams, and keep it accessible.

Qualifications

  • You are a German native speaker with over a year of experience in localisation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with CAT, TMS, and/or MT tools, as well as best practices in terms of quality management processes and workflows.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality localisation.
  • Analytical mind and ability to express it constructively to reach the best outcome for customers.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and work in a fast-paced environment with concurring deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness to accurately convey cultural nuances in your work.
  • At least a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
