Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs to achieve their full potential in an inclusive educational environment.

Job Summary:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialization in Autism and Speech and Language, you will work closely with teachers, parents, and other support staff to create a positive and supportive learning experience for students. Your role will involve providing one-on-one and small group support to students with autism and speech and language difficulties, assisting in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans, and supporting students in their social and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with autism and speech and language difficulties to help them access the curriculum and achieve their academic goals.
  • Assist teachers in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans that cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Support students in their social and emotional development, promoting independence, self-confidence, and self-esteem.
  • Collaborate with teachers, speech therapists, and other professionals to deliver tailored support to students.
  • Help create and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social interaction, communication, and learning.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with autism and/or speech and language difficulties (preferred but not essential).
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with special needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with teachers, parents, and other support staff.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team to deliver high-quality support to students.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and equality in the classroom.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable but not essential.
