Salary

Job Description


This role involves delivering detailed structural designs and calculations for various building components and materials, primarily focused on the structural performance of facades. As a successful candidate, you will work independently to deliver projects and development works in line with company targets and requirements. You will have input into the drafting process and collaborate with external installers, designers, engineers, and architects to ensure that the final design is practical, buildable, and cost-effective.



Key Responsibilities



  • Producing code-compliant designs for various materials and systems
  • Substantiating designs with formal calculations for internal and external review
  • Briefing and working with designers to ensure that the engineer's schemes are correctly interpreted
  • Checking drawings and calculations produced by others
  • Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings
  • Responding to technical queries
  • Attending design team meetings as the company's representative
  • Using and developing design tools in various software packages to increase efficiency
  • Contributing to the development of other members of staff – advising engineers in technical aspects of facades
  • Performing site visits and inspections


Requirements


We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Façade Structural Engineer who holds a degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering (2.1 classification minimum) and has A-Level or equivalent qualifications in Maths and Physics. You should be approaching or at Chartership level and possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Additionally, you should have sound understanding of basic structural behaviour, reasoning, engineering judgement, and problem-solving skills. Experience in designing various structural materials such as steel, aluminium, glass, timber, and masonry is highly desirable. Proficiency in MS Office and common desktop packages is essential, while experience with 2D and 3D CAD and FEA packages is preferred. Basic knowledge of programming would be highly advantageous.
