Housing Enforcement Manager

We are seeking an experienced Housing Enforcement Manager to join our team at Buckingham Futures. As a key member of our Private Sector Housing team, you will play a crucial role in improving the quality of private sector housing stock and supporting the enforcement of housing standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead efforts to improve housing, health, safety, and living conditions in the private rented and owner-occupied sectors through advice, regulation, and enforcement.
- Manage a small team of Private Sector Housing Officers and a budget ranging between £150K and £300K.
- Oversee investigations into complaints regarding housing conditions and houses of multiple occupation (HMOs), ensuring compliance with the Housing Act 2004, Housing Health and Safety Rating System, and council policies.
- Act as a mentor and provide supervision to new and less experienced staff members.
- Liaise with external partners, including the London Fire Brigade and other council departments, to deliver joined-up enforcement initiatives.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in housing enforcement, particularly in the private sector.
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation, including the Housing Act 2004 and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
- Experience managing staff and budgets within a regulatory or housing environment.
- Ability to supervise complex property surveys, inspections, and the preparation of work schedules.
- Ability to develop and implement housing improvement initiatives and stay informed on legal and technical developments in housing standards.
