About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team at one of our special schools in Hackney. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Student Behaviour: Assist students in managing their behaviour and emotions, creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Develop Individual Support Plans: Work with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individual support plans tailored to each student's needs.
  • Provide Holistic Support: Collaborate with teachers and other staff to provide holistic support to students, promoting social and emotional development.
  • Manage Behavioural Challenges: Work one-to-one or in small groups with students, as needed, to help them manage behavioural challenges and develop positive coping strategies.
  • Communicate Effectively: Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure seamless support for students.
Requirements
  • Experience Working with SEN: Proven experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Safeguarding Commitment: A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • DBS Registration: Enhanced DBS registration on the update service, or a willingness to apply for one.
