Job Summary

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Liaison and Diversion Practitioner to join their team. This permanent position will be based in Barrow in Furness Police Station and will involve working across all three sites.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying individuals with substance misuse, mental health, learning disability, or other vulnerabilities within the criminal justice system. They will then provide support and referrals to appropriate health or social care services, or divert individuals away from the criminal justice system if necessary.

Main Responsibilities

The Liaison and Diversion Practitioner will work with individuals from the age of 10 years upwards, conducting assessments, screenings, and referrals. They will also liaise with agencies to support onward planning and intervention to address needs.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject or a Diploma in Health and Social Care, with at least 2 years of experience working with people with complex needs. A professional recognised qualification such as RMN, Learning Disability Nurse, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist is desirable.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have a degree qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience, as well as knowledge of mental health issues and/or learning disability. They will also have knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and the use and interpretation of health screening tools.
