Purpose and Scope

The clinical deputy lead is a vital role within the community services team at St Giles Hospice. This position requires a skilled and compassionate clinician to support the clinical lead and deputise in their absence. The deputy lead will work closely with the clinical lead to ensure the effective management of the community team and the provision of high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities

The deputy clinical lead will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Supporting the clinical lead in the operational management of the community team
• Providing clinical support and guidance to patients and staff
• Deputising for the clinical lead as required
• Participating in the development and evaluation of policies and guidelines for clinical practice
• Maintaining accurate and concise records and reports
• Demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills to ensure effective working relationships with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals

Requirements and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Registered nurse with current NMC registration
• Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Experience of working in a community setting and providing palliative care
• Ability to mentor and develop staff
