Lincoln, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom QinetiQ Full time

The Inzpire Ltd Mission Systems Team designs, develops and delivers cutting-edge aviation mission planning, mission management and Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) systems from a state-of-the-art facility in Lincoln. As a result of our continued success and business expansion, we are pleased to offer an opportunity for a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to join our award-winning team and contribute to the on-going development of our bespoke mission systems.

Inzpire's GECO mission system is designed to meet the situational awareness requirements of the diverse aviation mission planning and execution environment. The system combines innovative software with modern, high-performance hardware to deliver critical information to military aircrew. This enables aircrew to make informed decisions quickly, enhancing the safety of operations.

As a Senior Functional Safety Engineer, you will work closely with the Safety and Security Technical Authority to conduct safety analysis on Company-designed mission support systems, including Mission Planning Systems and tablet-based obstacle warning, navigation and EFB products. Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting hazard analysis on complex systems to identify and control safety risk.

• Developing and maintaining the GECO System Hazard Log and producing related reports.

• Supporting the on-going maintenance, control and configuration management of all documentation and records relating to Mission Systems' Safety Management System.

To succeed in this role, you will have experience in safety-critical systems engineering and be motivated by the challenge of analyzing complex systems. You should be able to work independently and proactively, with a 'can-do attitude', and possess excellent communication skills. A degree in a relevant engineering discipline or a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience working in a safety-related role within a relevant sector is required.

We require candidates who have experience of software- and safety-related standards such as RTCA DO-178C, RTCA DO-200B (ED-76A) and Def Stan 00-056. You should also be familiar with common safety engineering tools and techniques, such as Goal-Structuring Notation (GSN) or Claims Argument-Evidence (CAE), and be able to demonstrate the functional safety of complex systems.

This role offers a competitive salary range of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package. The post is primarily based in Lincoln but may require occasional travel to other sites within the UK. A Full UK Driver's Licence and/or the ability to travel independently within the UK is essential. We also offer adaptive working arrangements to support work-life balance.
