Job Overview

Ipsos UK Public Affairs is a leading provider of social research, bridging the gap between government and the public. Our team works with public institutions to assess policy effectiveness, impact, and value for money.

We are seeking a Senior Economist to join our Policy and Evaluation Unit. The role involves evaluating government and society policies, including cultural, heritage, and sport policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in economics, quantitative methods, or social sciences.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering economic evaluations in a commercial environment. This includes applying critical thinking and problem-solving approaches to complex evaluations, managing projects from start to finish, and developing conclusions and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply technical evaluation skills, leveraging previous experience to appraise techniques in different contexts.
  • Manage analysis and reporting of quantitative and economic data.
  • Coordinate delivery of medium-scale evaluation projects to timescale and budget.
  • Contribute to business development and proposals, ideally managing methodology sections on bids.
  • Support junior members in developing their economic knowledge and skillsets.

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Requirements:

  • A strong academic background in economics, quantitative methods, or social sciences.
  • Proven experience of designing and delivering evaluation in a commercial environment.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving approaches to complex evaluations.
  • Knowledge of policy in one or more areas: culture, heritage, and sport; politics & society; education; employment welfare & skills.
