Job Title: Chemotherapy Clinical Nurse Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Chemotherapy Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our dynamic and proficient oncology team at The Montefiore Hospital in Hove.

About the Role:

  • As a Chemotherapy Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will serve as the clinical expert and professional resource for the multi-professional team, patients, and caregivers.
  • You will be responsible for managing direct patient care, safely administering SACT, and working closely with other site-specific Clinical Nurse Specialists.
  • You will also work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met, especially in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements.
  • You will provide patients with a Holistic Needs Assessment and develop a care plan, if necessary, and refer to Level 3 or Level 4 psychological care providers.
  • You will provide specialist advice, based on evidence, to deliver clinically effective care to cancer patients and their families in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • You will promote a culture of respectful relationships and patient involvement in care decisions.
  • You will evaluate and assess patients and their family's needs and treat, support, and refer as appropriate.
  • You will demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding in the administration of chemotherapy and associated toxicities.

Requirements:

  • Registered General Nurse with valid NMC registration with no restrictions or conditions.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of working at a senior level within cancer services and the administration of SACT.
  • Hold an accredited SACT administration course.
  • Competency in the UKONS 24 Hour triage Tool.
  • Post-registration course within cancer care.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills, with the ability to organise work around competing demands on time.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
