Role Description:

We are seeking a skilled Gameplay Programmer to join our Firesprite studio, working on a dark, story-driven 'Narrative Adventure' with genre-defining goals. This ambitious project takes atmosphere, storytelling, player agency, and narrative firmly into groundbreaking territory on next-generation hardware technologies.

This project has AAA ambitions with a heavy focus on art, animation, and delivering unique character performances to heighten player presence and immersion to new levels.

The ideal candidate will be based in the studio for 1-3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design to build gameplay features.
  • Utilize a combination of C++ and blueprinting to create systems for designers.
  • Write scalable and reusable code with performance in mind.
  • Maintain, extend, and optimize existing game systems and features.
  • Ensure overall build performance and stability throughout all stages of development.

Requirements:

  • Experience developing console/PC titles.
  • Knowledge of C++ and overall software engineering and debugging skills.
  • Staying updated with recent advancements in technology.
  • 3D maths and problem-solving skills.
  • Unreal Engine 5 knowledge, including knowledge of Blueprints.
  • Ability to modify and extend existing systems.
  • Ability to work well with others in cross-discipline teams.
  • A passion for games and game creation.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with profiling and identifying CPU & GPU bottlenecks using industry-standard tools.
  • Working knowledge of Perforce.
  • Experience working on PlayStation hardware.
