Role Overview

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism, adapting learning plans and strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Work closely with the SENCO and teachers to implement behaviour management techniques and sensory strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure a joined-up approach in supporting pupils.
  • Create a structured, predictable, and safe learning environment that supports the unique needs of children with autism.
Requirements
  • At least 6 months of experience working with children with autism in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of autism and how to adapt teaching and behaviour strategies.
  • Calm, patient approach and ability to manage challenging behaviours.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or a specialism in SEN.
  • DBS on the update service.
